Lookeee here!
Our very own Craig Howes (who used to write for Friday Puppy before I went all crazy and basically fired everyone) was featured in the british fashion source “My Seven Dials”, which I’ve never heard of, but Craig says “it’s the mecca for fashionistas”.
not sure what that means, but it’s a big deal for Craig and a big deal for Howes & Baum!
and what a handsome photo, am I right?

This week, artist Eli Lieb tweeted a photo of himself wearing Howes & Baum.
Have you seen Eli’s videos? So sexy talented!
This Adele cover he did of Skyfall is amazing.
In the photo above, Eli is wearing a pair of our Cut Off Johns in charcoal, and our Brixton hoodie in light grey.

So today was the 2nd sales meeting I have ever had to do myself for Howes & Baum.
My first one was at a great store called Changes in Woodstock. I think it went well. They said they will be placing an order.
The meeting was with Saks Fifth Avenue. It would be a HUGE deal, if we can sell in that store, and my friend Rob was nice enough to make the appointment happen. So it was important to me that I attended the appointment.
I was in Albany last night, so I needed to leave myself enough time to get down to NYC in the morning to pack our entire Fall 13 collection before the meeting.
I was supposed to be at Saks at 2:00pm, and I started to get ready for bed at around 1:00am. My plan was to leave Albany at around 10:00am.
Right before bed, I decided that I should check the address and make a note of it.
While I was looking for the address, I read the email, and totally forgot that we had actually changed the meeting from 2:00pm to 9:00am!!
A flood of panic came over me.
Oh fuck. The meeting is in NYC in 8 hours, and I’m in Albany. and it’s 1:00am.
I still have to go to our showroom in SOHO and grab some clothing and then head all the way uptown to 50th.
In order to be on time for this meeting, I would have to leave Albany at like 5:00am. I normally don’t see 5:00am unless I’m drinking gin.
But it was Saks Fifth Avenue, and there was no way I was going to cancel.
So, I went to bed and thought, “This is what you’re gonna do, big guy. you’re gonna get about 4 hours of sleep, and then you’re gonna wake up, shower, drink a box of coffee, and then you’re gonna crush this meeting.”
I couldn’t sleep. Like at all.
I got out of bed at 5:30am and raced down to NYC. Picked up my clothes at the showroom, and was heading uptown when I hit traffic. It was 8:45am and I was on 30th street. I had 19 blocks to go, but traffic wasn’t moving.
So I thought, I have to call [the Buyer for Saks] and tell him I’m running a little late. Ugh.
So I pull over (that’s a lie), and call his cell phone. He answers. I say, “[Buyer], I am soooo sorry, but I am stuck in traffic. I’m going to be about 5-10 minutes late.”
He says to me, “but Matt… our meeting is NEXT Thursday. I’m in California.”
“Oh, is it, now? Oh wow. Ok then. I will see YOU, next Thursday!”

Recently, our little clothing line, Howes & Baum, has been getting some great press.
Very exciting.
One day soon, I pray, you will see Jake Gyllenhaal high five-ing the shit out of Ryan Gosling, and they will both be wearing matching Howes & Baum sweaters.

So exciting!
In Style Magazine chose our Howes & Baum Brixton Hoodie as one of their “100 Perfect Presents” for the holidays!
I guess that uncomfortable date with the Editor was worth it. (just kidding. Although I would totally do that.)
