I wanted to write about this place since New Years, but… well, you know, hangovers life got in the way.
Some friends and I went to Tulum, Mexcio for a couple weeks, and it was one of the best vacations of my life.
Not only am I namedropping were we dancing on New Years eve with Demi Moore, Nate Berkus, J Lindeburg, and some weird 8 year olds who were up way past their bedtime and I’m pretty sure were on crystal meth, but we also enjoyed all the beautiful things Tulum has to offer.
And by that I mean margaritas. And the food.
There is a road in Tulum that stretches along the beach and it’s filled with yoga retreats, candle lit restaurants, and insanely beautiful beaches. The prices are a little steep, but you can always go to the grocery store and buy your own food. It’s definitely cheaper, but you’re supposed to rinse it off with bleach or something and that weirded me out. Plus I can’t cook.
You can also swim in underwater caves with snorkles and stuff. It was the highlight of my trip.
And for some reason, when I heard “Tulum”, it sounded like a 14-hour flight from Albany, but turns out it’s only about 3.5 hours direct from NYC which ain’t bad at all.
Go to Tulum. Eat at Hartwood. Swim with turtles.
The service is horrendous, though, I warn you. In the entire 2 weeks I was there I couldn’t find one single waiter who could bring me a proper fluffernutter.

Not thrilled you have name dropped one of the best beaches (if not the best beach) in N.America. However, there you go. Secret’s out. Everyone go to TULUM. Also, Mayan ruins accent the background of this magical place and that deserves a mention.
