Ummm, am I the only one a little disturbed that this guy is letting his dog drink from the fountain? I drink from that fountain… well, used to anyway.

Well this is just too adorable!

@neighbor — ummm, that guy isn’t the only one letting his dog drink from that fountain. my meathead stands two-legged and drinks! not much choice for us owners or our dogs… it’s the only water source in the dog park.

That is gross. Water fountains are for humans. Bring a bowl next time, creep.
Lilly Aug 30, 2012 at 1:04 pm
Neighbor:
1) it doesn’t look like the dogs mouth is actually licking the faucet.
2) This bothers you, but the fact that hundreds of other people, strangers, have probably done a lot worse to that fountain doesn’t? I imagine kids mouths and hands are something you should be more concerned about.

I’m with you Neighbor.
Kids don’t lick themselves…*ahem*…you know where.
You do have a choice. Bring a bowl or a water bottle.
Sara Aug 30, 2012 at 7:35 pm
I wish the city would install a doggie sized water fountain there. I guess that’s unlikely since this is an unofficial dogpark. But lots of parks in other cities I’ve visited have great dog fountains.
Lily Aug 31, 2012 at 12:01 pm
The dog is clearly lapping the water as it arcs from the fountain. I’ve seen kids and adults alike put their mouths right on the faucet and drink. I’d be much more concerned about that.

Omg..the baby isn’t even touching the metal! Gimme a break! Human mouths are waaayyy dirtier with bacteria..Get bit by a human & you’ll probably need a tetanus booster! More than likely not with a canine!!
“A dog’s mouth contains a lot of bacteria,” confirms Dr. Gary Clemons, a veterinarian in Milford, Ohio. “Remember, a dog’s tongue is not only his wash cloth but also his toilet paper.”
I am more disturbed by the title of this post, on a Water Break? Is Christy the homebirther ready to deliver or something. No, seriously really cute and I’d much rather have a dog’s germs around me than a human’s…..oh the root of my problems is becoming clearer now.

We can debate evolution too…smh.
I think the point is, while some people are comfortable sharing germs with dogs, others are not. So why not just bring a bowl or a bottle of water along with your doggy poop bag and be respectful of those that don’t. I really don’t think it’s all that much to ask.

Let’s just put a gigantic condom with a hole in it over the fountain. Problem solved ;p

Julia,
That’s a myth.

Enough said.

@ dgc..like anything else in ‘science’ it’s debatable & depends on if the contagions are zoonotic or not..Anyway.. Use common sense..disease is disease & I don’t think the above scenario is cause for any worry.. ;) http://indianapublicmedia.org/amomentofscience/dog-mouth-vs-human-mouth/
