Congratulations to this week’s Friday Puppy winner, Banjo!  I love that name.
Banjo is owned by Jessie Casey Weatherwax and her husband (not sure his name.)
He is a beautiful dog, and this is what Jessie had to say about Banjo…
1.  Why did you choose that name for your dog? My husband and I have always been big bluegrass fans.  I love the sound of the banjo and it just fits him perfectly…happy and fast.
2.  How old is your dog?  He is 15 weeks.
3.  Where did you get your dog?We got him from a breeder in Honeoye, NY that breeds Aussies and Appaloosas.
4.  What is your dog’s favorite treat to eat?  He is OBSESSED with hot dogs.  We use them in his puppy kindergarten class and he will pretty much do anything for a piece of hot dog.
5.  What is your dog’s worst habit?  Definitely the nipping.  He wants to herd the kids so he will occasionally nip them in the behind.  It seems to be getting less and less thanks to training…let’s hope that trend continues.  Being nipped in the butt is definitely not fun : )
6.  If your dog could speak, what would be his/her first sentence?  I have no idea where you are going but I am definitely coming with you…please please please?
7.  What is the worst thing your dog has ever done?  Other than the occasional nip Banjo hasn’t done anything bad…yet : )
8.  What kind of food do you give your dog?  We give him Nutri Source Puppy food.
9.  Who is your dog’s best friend?  Banjo’s best human friends are our two kids Adeline & Abram.  He is absolutely obsessed with them and waits outside their bedroom door in the morning whimpering and trying to wake them up.  His best furry friend is his cousin Dolly who is a 3 year old golden doodle.  She is super sweet and lots of fun to chase.
10.  Why is your dog the best dog ever?   He is insanely smart and absolutely obsessed with his people.  He just wants to be with us every second and do what is asked of him.  He is fluffy and cuddly and so insanely adorable and one of the best things about having a high energy dog is that the whole family is constantly out walking and throwing a ball and keeping him busy which keeps him out of trouble and us together and outdoors which is our favorite combination.
11.  Tell us a little story about your dog.  We lost our two dogs this year.  Zada was a 13 year old black lab and Emmitt was an 11 year old Golden Retriever and we had to put them down within 4 months of each other.  Our dogs were older than our kids and had been our first family. Without Zada, Emmitt was never the same and without both of them, our whole family was so sad.  We hated walking in the front door and not having a furry family member greet us.  It was just horrible.  Banjo has made us all smile again and it has been so amazing to watch our children be such awesome puppy trainers and show so much patience with him.  We can’t imagine our lives without him.  He follows us from room to room, cuddles at our feet the moment we stop and is happy just being wherever we are.  He really is just an awesome pup.
Congratulations, Banjo!!
If you have a dog and would like to see him on Friday Puppy, please send a super cute photo to FridayPuppy@gmail.com and be sure to include your hometown and dog’s name.

Banjo sounds like the perfect pup!! So happy things are looking better for you after the loss of your other two dogs. The nipping gets a little better when they get their adult teeth (maybe around 5 months) – it doesn’t hurt as much as the needle-sharp baby teeth.

So cute! I just wish breeding was outlawed. It’s so inhumane.

I too have an Aussie and everything Jessie said is so true of the breed! They are true velcro dogs. My Aussie, Maddie, follows me like a shadow, loves EVERYone and snuggles all the time. They really are great dogs. Banjo is ADORABLE and reminded me of when Maddie was a pup.
