A martini is a terrible thing to waste.

Rest in peace, Reggie.

My brother Steven forwarded this from his buddy from college:

Everyone,

We write to share sad news.  Unfortunately, during our walk this morning, Reggie collapsed and died.  We think he had a sudden cardiac arrest.  It all happened very quickly.

Devon and I sometimes take for granted the presence and company of our loved ones.  Now that a member of our family has passed, and we’re feeling the sorrow of his absence, we just wanted to reach out to express our love and gratitude to all of you for being important parts of our lives.

Reggie wasn’t the easiest dog to care for, but he truly enriched the lives of Devon and I over the past five years.  We wish he were nicer to guests and to some of your kids, but overall we’d change nothing about our time with him.  Lately, he’d been getting up on the couch and the bed a little bit.  We got to see him at his happiest — sleeping with his head resting on our legs.

If there’s any silver lining to Reggie’s passing, its that after his collapse I experienced tremendous kindness from strangers who helped me carry/drive his body home from Jamaica Pond, and Devon and I now have an excuse to reach out to all of you and thank you for sharing in ours and Reggie’s life.

With love,

- Josh & Devon  (Boston, MA)

We are so sorry for your loss, Josh and Devon.

Reggie sounded like a wonderful dog.
