A martini is a terrible thing to waste.

Help us choose Pepsi flavors.

So, we’re opening a new restaurant in the former Miss Albany Diner (more details to come, I promise), and it’s that time again when we need to choose the soda flavors on the gun.  (the gun is the hand held thing the waitresses grab that holds all the soda flavors.)

I met with Pepsi last week, and I wanted to have Dr. Pepper and Root Beer, but they said that those flavors “ruin the lines”.  Annoying, because they are my favorites.

But anyway, the following are the flavors we can choose from.  Please pick the 7 flavors you think we should have on the gun.

Grazi!

In my opinion every good place to eat makes the “Iced Tea” fresh and not the processed from the gun kind, that stuff is a bad idea and I believe it would be less expensive than the fountain (bag tanks) Please have good Iced Tea…….

    Why not Coke? It’s better.

In order to choose/vote I need to know what kind of food there will be available; until then I might as well choose Yoohoo and Nestle Strawberry Quick…

Just out of curiosity, why Pepsi? I prefer Pepsi products as well but was not sure why you do.

Am I sober or drunk? Is it 2PM or 2AM?

I know you have Root Beer and Dr. Pepper at Bombers – what is your experience with their comment that they “ruin the lines”. Sounds like BS to me.

The only flavor above that I like is Ginger Ale. I agree Root Beer and Dr Pepper are good Pepsi products, otherwise, Coke all the way. And I agree with the other commentor that processed iced tea, vs. real fresh brewed ice tea has a notable taste difference, and is not good.

I agree with Jessica – sounds like BS – maybe the salesman is not offering Dr Pepper/RB due to issue with the Bottler/supplier and not because he is concerned about your lines. Soda is sugar and water and all lines are made to handle sugar and water.

@Jessica R…. they said that they no longer provide it for “New Accounts” but will continue them for old accounts. That’s what they told me.

@Matt, sounds like you need to tell them it’s a deal breaker. Just change the lines more often. I’m sure you do that with your beer lines anyway.

@DL, there is more than just sugar and water in soda. There is phosphoric acid in many sodas which can have interactions with a number of materials.

Hard to pick when we don’t really know who the audience will be (20 somethings, families, etc). Personally, I think Root Beer is a must. Ginger Ale and Sierra Mist and universally liked and Pepsi/Diet Pepsi are also a must have. After that, I’m not sure why juices are on the list (no bar at the new place? Wont you need them for mixers anyway?) Pink lemonade for kids but regular for everyone else, unsweetened iced tea can be sweetened with sugar packets so it’s a safer bet. I think most people who like Dr. Pepper/Root Beer probably would also like Wild Cherry Pepsi so that might be your back up plan.

I’ve experienced tasting diet pepsi from a bar gun ( not a fountain head) that also dispenses root beer – tastes like bubble gum.

I’m (very) pre-diabetic so I vote for anything cola-like that’s sugar free. Diet Pepsi does nicely – like both Diet Pepsi and Coke Zero equally. (Also really like Diet Dr. Pepper And Diet Root Beer)

You have to go to the south and get a good sweet tea recipe. It is the best in the south and the most refreshing drink there is. Only southern bells can make it that way. Soda sucks.

The only good thing about pepsi is 7-up, and sprite is a close second so probably not worthwhile. Sierra Mist? Are you serious? Is this an upstate NY thing? My cousins always have pepsi products in the fridge too. Yuck! Coke and Diet Coke. That is all you need.

Do you have the option to get other brand soft drinks?
RC cola..i think they make diet rite also. Adirondack sodas even…but they might only do grocery store sales i have never seen it at a restaurant.

I do like Pepsi in my rum though =)

Why not check with a coke supplier to see if they will give you root beer?

UPDATE: Maurice, my Pepsi rep, called me this morning. He wanted to clarify that the root beer and the Dr. Pepper is available on the gun, but it ends up making the other flavors on the gun taste like root beer or dr. pepper. He said that he would give me those flavors if we really wanted them. So that’s nice of him.
We’ll probably just get them in bottles, and avoid all the hullaballoo.

If it is not a done deal, how about Royal Crown instead of choosing between the 2 cola leaders?

Nobody EVER has Diet Mountain Dew, and I love it (I’m allergic to corn syrup, so I can’t have regular soda and no one ever has fun diet sodas besides basic Coke/Pepsi). That’s my vote, seven times!

If my option was Pepsi over Coke, I’d choose water (and then loose a sale). Coke is much better than Pepsi. Just my two cents.
