A martini is a terrible thing to waste.

7 Habits of Slim People.

The Dr. Oz show made this video of the 7 Habits of Slim People.

Here they are so you don’t have to listen to it:

1.  They exercise in the morning.

2.  They eat smaller meals throughout the entire day.

3.  They eat slower and savor their food.

4.  They don’t skip breakfast.

5.  They have better monitors of their health.

6.  They have fitness hobbies.

7.  They drink water.

I’m on the slimmer side, and I don’t do any of these.   I mean, eat small meals throughout the day?  Who has the will power for that?   Here’s an idea.  Don’t have food in front of you at all times, that way there’s no temptation.

Here are MY 10 habits to stay thin:

1.  Exercise. period.  Sweat as often as you can.   If you feel that you are overweight, run till your shirt is dripping with sweat.  And then run to Schaghticoke and back.

2.  Wake up in the morning and drink iced coffee and eat a banana.  Enjoy it because you aren’t eating again until dinner.

4.  Anytime you’re hungry, drink more iced coffee.

5.  For dinner, eat a small meal.  Choose some protein ( a lean meat) and eat some steamed vegetables.

6.  Don’t snack before bedtime.   If you do, plan on waking up the next morning and running to work.

7.  I absolutely do NOT condone doing drugs, and I swear I have never even tried it,  but cocaine keeps you thin.  I’m just saying.

8.  Sleep a lot.  The more time you’re sleeping, the less time you’re awake to eat.

In a nutshell, don’t eat.  Exercise a lot.  And you’ll be thin.  You might not be happy, but you’ll be thin.  However, you know what Kate Moss has to say about that, “Nothing tastes as good as skinny feels.”

I just ate about 8 pounds of spaghetti for dinner last night.  That means this morning I’m basically going to the gym for about 14 hours and then I’ll eat again on Wednesday.

Too funny! and sad, genetics play a big role! I don’t do any of those either and I’ve been about 100 lbs my whole life even after 4 kids. Maybe I should make up some method and show myself to make $$$ off of people who unfortunately have to work at being thin some of us are born thin. I have one overweight child he was born that way 32lbs at age1. Granted I don’t eat fast food often but I don’t say no to anything except soda. Never eat breakfast and always end the day with a movie and tons of candy and snacks. Ahhhh America land of the free to con people!! lol

This is NOT my area of expertise ha but I’ve found that working around food actually makes me want to eat less. How appealing does that burrito look after you’ve made 4000 of them? Not very.

Also be super poor. And spend all your extra money on gas, beer, and gym memberships.

I agree especially with your tip #1. Not all of us have the time or control over circadian rhythms to exercise in the morning. Moderate to intense exercise any time of the day is good.

I have to agree with the iced coffee thing. If I have one at breakfast/for breakfast, I am good to go until about 1. But I can’t jump on board with running to Schaghticoke!!

    2. Wake up in the morning and drink iced coffee and eat a banana. Enjoy it because you aren’t eating again until dinner.

    This made me LOL.

Since you can’t have breakfast at MAD, your having just a banana now?

    Great post Matt!

I agree with both Matt & Dr Oz. It’s not rocket science, you need to spend more calories then you take in. Oh, and bonus? And it gets harder as you get older….

I seem to remember the following lunch order… “I’ll have a chicken sandwich, with an UN-healthy amount of mayonnaise…”

    I totally agree with the sweating. If you get yourself drenched in sweat atleast a couple times a week, you need to try pretty hard to not be slim. You burn a ton of calories, you drink a ton of water and you’re not hungry for a while afterwards. Bonus feature- you’re so slimy and gross that friends don’t invite you out for dinner and drinks. That’s like a day’s worth of calories gone right there! (c;

My father always said, “want an exercise for losing weight?” “Push away from the table”

Pretty much do the Oz 7 & Matt, even though your “10″ are a little tongue-in-cheek, love your #4. I live for caffeine; depresses the appetite. But if you’re climbing the walls with hunger, lean protein & sm piece of fruit is the ticket. My own personal fav is, outside of skim milk, to NEVER drink my calories– only seltzer, water, coffee & diet caffeinated sodas. Subbing an apple for the banana also works nicely. Love your blog (and your civic mindedness) you are fierce! (my first time posting on your blog)
