Starting this Friday, when you go to all three restaurants (either Bombers Burrito Bar, Wolff’s Biergarten and the brand-new The Olde English) for your birthday, you will receive this tshirt. Â For free :)
When you go to the first of any of the restaurants, we will give you a Birthday Passport that you will then take to each place to get stamped, whoever you finish, will have a tshirt waiting for you.
We’re also trying to work out some sort of Birthday Trolley tour with Albany Aqua Ducks, but that won’t be ready for Friday, unfortunately.
(if you’re wondering what the Birthday tea is at The Olde English, you should check it out… it’s beautiful.  It’s a huge  3.0 liter tea cup filled with  your choice of either cider or beer.)
Happy Birthday!
To see the rules
*FINE PRINT, the birthdays require that you spend a minimum of $20 in your group (on food or other drinks) before you can receive the birthday drinks. Â It's illegal for us to flat out give away a free drink, so unfortunately that's how it has to work. Â But hey, it's still a pretty sweet deal :)

I like the idea! Can I come for my birthday? I might have a group of 20 people, how far in advance do I have to reserve?

Yes, gonzo. I will also send you a free birthday cake and a complimentary $50 gift certificate to each of the restaurants. Just send me your address and I’ll get right on that.

Ok, so do I have to spend at least $20 at each place? And drink one margarita, one tea and one boot? Can you please write me a doctor’s note telling my boss I won’t be in the next day?
Guess it doesn’t matter though, since it starts tomorrow and my birthday is today. :)

Well this creates a challenge that I want to take! But….
@Matt – My birthday is this Saturday the 24th, but, a relative of mine went and died on us and now I have to spend the majority of my Satur-birth-day hours traveling to/from Boston and won’t get back to Albany until around 11pm…. so here’s my question… Can I tackle 2/3 of this after midnight Friday night, and save the homestretch for Saturday night when I get back?

I find it amazing the lengths people will go for a free tee shirt.

Matt, I am so sorry people keep asking crazy ass questions instead of just having fun with all the fabulous things you do at your restaurants. You’ve been giving away birthday booze for years, how can people not know the rules by now?
PEOPLE, the rules have always been (1) you have to go on your birthday, none of this “it’s my birthday at midnight” nonsense, and (2) your group of friends have to spend a certain amount in order for you to get your free drink. I can’t imagine this has never been a problem because presumably, you don’t go out to drink massive quantities of booze alone, so your group of friends (even if they each only buy one drink at each place) will spend the requisite amount of money.
I can’t wait to get my shirt in May, and to spend the next day in bed.

love the sarcasm I was asking if we could go on a saturday if birthday falls on a workday..We were planning on checking out your new place along with the garden but you can donate your gift certificates to the charity of your choice..you act like you’re giving away a car.. we’ll wave to you from graneys… stop over and we’ll give you a free tee shirt..if you spend $60 of course big spender

My birthday is coming up and I had a question about the Olde English’s tea cup. It’s a 3 liter of beer or cider – is it a ‘hard cider’ alcohol drink? Also – is it cash only like Wolffs or do you take plastic? I think the shirt is a swell idea BTW
Matt
Sep 24, 2011 at 2:28 pm
@Allison B… it is cash, but there’s an ATM. The drink is either beer OR cider. Just tell the bartender what you want. Happy Birthday :)

Oh. My. God. This is seriously ridiculous!!! People, go to the 3 bars ON YOUR BIRTHDAY! Not the day before your birthday. Not the weekend of your birthday. Not the night before at midnight. Not on your brothers birthday but he’s out of town and you are taking part on his behalf. On your ACTUAL BIRTHDAY!!!!! SO if you were born on September 24th, 1990, then that is the day you should go!! Gather a few friends, and head to Bombers, Wolff’s, and The Olde English. Spend at least $20 between all of you, which shouldn’t be too hard if you have at least one friend. At the last place you choose to go, hand in your birthday passport and you will get a t-shirt! I’m pretty sure that’s what I just read. GOOD GRIEF!!!!

Thanks Matt for the clairication! I will be there Oct 3rd. You met my husband Matt outside of Bombers back in August (he told you that you should run for
Mayor of Albany) and I was the goofball waving at you from the 2nd floor window. We love all your businesses and can’t wait to check out Olde English!

I’m planning on doing the birthday trifecta on October 14th – I’m guessing there’s no chance of the Aqua Duck trolley thing being in effect by then, is there?
Matt

@ Emily, you can contact them and set it up yourself. They are still running.
