Arguably my favorite night of the year (besides maybe
Superbowl Saturday the night the Oscars are on) is the Saturday night at the end of August when the Burden Lake Improvement Association holds their Adult Lip Sync contest.
It’s pretty self explanatory, but just in case… it’s a night when adults get up on stage and lip sync to their favorite songs (i.e. no actual signing, they mouth the words to the tracks). Â They also wear costumes, they “choreograph” their dance routines, and pretty much everyone gets a little drunk. Â It’s so frickin’ fun. Â (I definitely don’t say the word “frickin” enough.)
I am not a performer. Â Instead, you can usually find me sitting at the beer counter with my other non-performer-friends talking about the amazing act we’re going to put together for next year. I literally have a a list going on my iPhone for potential songs. Â Topping the list is Joe Cocker’s “Help From My Friends”. Â Although, maybe a Ke$sha song is calling my name. Â who knows.)
Anyway, the above video is footage my buddy Scotty took from this year’s Lip Sync night. Â
