Unknown, 1927
My friend Danielle gave me an old photo album that she found at an estate sale. It’s the old-fashioned kind of photo album. You can actually hold onto it and view the pictures without powering up a machine. Apparently it belonged to a young woman who lived in Washington state in the late 1920s. Most of the pictures are snapshots with friends in the schoolyard. It’s what Roaring Twenties Facebook pictures would look like. There is one picture in this album that is Roaring Twenties meets Friday Puppy. Handwritten (in handwriting only a nun would have) on the picture’s back, “Todd and I on the front porch 1927″. I don’t know what kind of dog Todd is was, but I’d vote for him.

What an incredibly clear picture for being so old. And her hat is right in style these days! I always think of people who have photographs from back then as being rich – because cameras were such a luxury.

I guess we can forgive the dog’s grammar, but Todd is an odd name for a woman.

I think Todd was an odd name for anyone in 1927.
