Silent disco.

Have you heard of these things called Silent Discos?

Admittedly, I had not.  And when someone had brought a “Silent Disco” up to my attention, it sounded like something weird religious kids would do at a christian retreat.

Turns out, a “Silent Disco” is a popular event where everyone is given headphones, and a DJ plays the same music into all the headphones, and everyone at the silent disco dances and sings around to the song.   If you are a spectator, you will hear no music, only see people jumping around in sync.

This year at The Lark Street BID’s LarkFest (Saturday, September 25th), there is going to be a Silent Disco!   (brought to you by the amazingly awesome restaurant if I do say so myself… Bombers Burrito Bar!)  The Silent Disco will take place on Hudson Avenue, right off of Lark Street.

Should be entertaining to say the least.

If you can’t wrap your head around what I’m talking about, watch the YouTube video below.

By the way, do you hear that annoying baby crying in the background?  Don’t you want to put duct tape over it’s mouth?   (actually, I can’t quite tell if it’s a baby or a velociraptor).

Festivals are not for babies.  Especially loud, screaming babies.  It’s called a SILENT disco.  Not a Screaming Baby Disco.   I’ve been to one of those before.  It was in Christy’s living room during her home birth, and all I can say is that I still have nightmares from some of the disturbing imagery and noises I heard that night.

I told you my homebirth was not going to be fun for someone who is anti-vagina but you wanted to play DJ for the event.

I just read an article on these emerging ‘silent disco’s’ – how cool! It kind of reminds me of the those crazy spot on dance routines w/a huge crowd- if you saw the show on Oprah’s block party in Chicago where the Black Eye’d Peas performed you get my reference…..

Wait, is Hudson Ave still going to be able to be used as a bathroom for all the males and some classy females during Lark Fest?

My ex-girlfriend accidentally happened upon one of these as a pub crawl in Boston last month. She said it was one of the best times she’s ever had. I’m looking forward to participating!!

absolutely hilarious – would be better if the DJ could put different music into different peoples headphones. THAT would be some type of dance party

@michael The LarkFEST Silent Disco will have 2 DJs playing at a time – on each of the headsets is a switch so listeners can choose which DJ they want to listen to. There are going to be multiple DJs throughout the day too.
