A martini is a terrible thing to waste.

Please stop the Reply All craziness.

I don’t even work in an office, so I can only imagine what it must be like at the workplace.

and like most things I’m probably making a big deal outta nothing, but I HATE when people “reply all” to emails.  (I normally don’t like to use the word “hate”, and will usually only use it when discussing mice, bats or any kind of candy with the word “gummy” in it.    But Reply All emails, I HATE.

It’s one thing if it’s a bunch of buddies who are going back and forth with a lively email chain, but when it’s people I barely know talking to each other about shit I don’t care about and including me on their everrrrry ssssssingle worrrrrd… it drives me crazy!   Who’s got time for that?

I sit on 4 boards, which I enjoy and am happy to do.  But one person sends an email to everyone, and then for the next weekandahalf I have 300 emails to sift through because everyone and their mother is “replying all” to the emails.

It’s bad form and it wastes valuable time that I could be using to play Chat Roulette.

While I’m on the subject, you also don’t have to reply “thanks!” to text messages.   “Matt, what time is the meeting?”  ”4:00″   “great! thanks!”   Stop.  It’s implied. Unless you just received a gorgeous Friday Puppy tshirt in the mail, you don’t need to thank me with another text message.   Do you even realize how hard it is to text message when I’m on my motorcycle?

sorry, I woke up on the wrong side of a lonely bed. this morning.  :(

I’m almost afraid to respond….for fear of being one of those…but I agree and yes working in an office is much like that and yes I feel the same way. But, then add those e-mails that have a prayer, I wish, or a “if you sent this to 10 people within 10 minutes you will be soooo rich” to all that you hate; is it any wonder anyone gets anything done at all in those cubicles that some of us call offices?

I couldn’t agree more with the “thanks” text or “k”. WTF? It’s implied. Don’t bother me again!!!! I have one texter start off every unsolicited text with “R U there?” And if I’m NOT? What difference does it make? No matter, I don’t care about what you have to say!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Guess I got up on the same side as Matt.

Matthew, I think it is wise not to reply all, cause you may say something you wish some of those people didn’t hear, then “you got some splainen to do Lucy” ( I Love Lucy referance). Sorry to hear about your morning, my bed’s that way 365, (yea boo hoo for me) No worries ! ! !

I agree, completely, and I don’t think I woke up on the wrong side this morning. And what’s worse, is that if you tag a bunch of people in a mass email on Facebook, there’s no way to get away from it unless you start a seperate email to the sender. Even then, you’re subject to everyone elses simple responses. Huge time waster and total PITA in my book…

If you hate ‘reply all’ messages you must really hate mass texts.

I am that person at work who replies to all when I should wait awhile…because I say mean things…now they know I am crazy.

A mouse moved into our family room this weekend…much better than a bat. The kids want to keep it.

The best part of the office ‘Reply All’ circle-j**k is:
43% of the folks getting the barrage of replies eventually envisions him/herself as the duly appointed Sheriff of “Please Stop Hitting Reply All.”

…which of course perpetuates the m

I have a co-worker that does the reply all “thank you” when FYI emails are sent out to a group. We’ve actually had conversations about unnecessary emails like this at meetings. Hasn’t helped!!

I couldn’t DISAGREE more with the thanks text message reply.

So many messages get lost in the airwaves or internets that I love a little note letting me know you actually received my message.

Now, it isn’t always necessary. But if you’re talking about the time of meet-up or letting someone know you did something for them, a quick little K is great.

@zack, You are correct about the fact that you don’t really know if someone actually gets the text, I have had people tell me it was hours later that they received a text that I was waiting for an answer to. (and NO they were not ignoring me on purpose, Oh, well, I didn’t think of that ?) anyway I like the conformation that they got my message ! !

I have to admit, I’m an excessive texter. I am the one that says.. K THANKS! Why you ask? Well if the convo was reversed and I sent he/she the text saying we’re meeting at 4.. well then I wanna make sure they got it. Call it obsessive, OCD, I don’t care. I’m a polite texter.. deal with it.

@Zack: An acknowledgment to the original sender is fine (i.e. Reply) but why would you need to reply to the entire group to say thanks? So many in my office do this and I just do not understand. Please enlighten me!

oh no RT, I’m with you on that. I hate reply all. I was referring to Matt’s other complaint about the one word, or one letter, responses.
